About us

Mike has spent most of his working life involved with agriculture and sheepdogs. He was brought up in the Black Mountains of Wales where he trained his first sheepdog, Prince, at the age of fifteen. Later he worked as a shepherd, managing a flock of 1800 ewes. When he lived in Wales, Mike was a regular competitor at trials and competed with his bitch Fynydd Nell in the 2006 Welsh National Sheep Dog Trials. He has helped handlers to train their dogs for many years. He is a patient instructor with a positive approach that uses the natural ability of the dog.

Christine's first encounter with sheepdogs was when one ran away from a nearby farm to the sanctuary of her back garden. When eventually traced, the farmer didn't want his dog back and so she took him on. As a long time fan of the BBC TV series 'One Man and His Dog', this gave her the ideal opportunity to have a go at training a dog to work sheep herself. Mike and Christine are currently competing at trials held by the organisation for sheepdogs in France known as the Association Française du Border Collie.
